Schedule
Friday 21 August
-
Since England and Australia will be physically and spiritually coming together over the weekend, we felt that it was only right to organise an informal game of cricket to start the celebrations (and the sledging). We've managed to secure Balliol College's Master's Field, which is surrounded by a RIBA-awarded development, as the location for the fixture. If you're interested in turning your arm over or wielding the willow, please get in touch, and we'll add you to the team sheet and give further instructions. If you don't, we may try to twist your arm anyway! We'd love you to turn up any time from 14:30 onwards (so it should only require a half-day off work for some of you), and the action will start at 15:30.
Saturday 22 August
-
To kick off the wedding day, Ed will be heading down to University Parks with friends to knock out Oxford's finest parkrun. Anyone else that fancies it is welcome to join. The route starts from the north-east tip of University Parks near the Lady Margaret Hall buildings, and near enough follows the perimeter of the park.
-
We'd love you to aim to arrive at St Margaret's Church by 12:45 so that you can grab an order of service and take a pew in good time. Don't forget to warm up those singing voices en route ahead of some rousing hymns.
-
The ceremony should start bang on 13:00, and there'll be plenty of space in the beautiful St Margaret's Church for all of you!
-
After the ceremony, we'll say a quick hello to you all before sending you on your way with some reliable, Oxford-native friends, who will guide you over to our reception venue, The Medley Walled Garden. The walk is primarily on tarmac and gravel footpaths across Oxford's famous Port Meadow, an ancient area of grazing land which should look resplendent in the summer sunshine. We recommend wearing flat shoes for the walk as the surface is uneven in places, or you're more than welcome to cab/drive over as per our guidance in the FAQs below.
-
The main event will take place at the Medley Walled Garden, which is part of the only working farm left in the agricultural hamlet of Binsey right next to central Oxford. You'll be treated to drinks and canapés on arrival, and we'll then settle in for some dinner and speeches before an evening of dancing and celebration.
-
The music will stop at 23:00, and we'll then have half an hour to leave the site. There'll be a guided twilight walk back across the meadow towards Walton Well Car Park, which is the quickest way to cab back into the centre. Please see our FAQs for other options!
